The Kotzebue Police Department is currently accepting applications for two open police officer positions, (lateral or basic entry). The department will give preference to currently certified and experienced applicants.

This position is FSLA 7(k) exempt and the applicant will work a two-week on/off schedule, (patrol officers also receive paid vacation time). There is no state or local residency requirement and the successful applicants can live outside of the state and commute to work.

The starting pay is $26.96 per hour for uncertified police officers, and more for certified officers,(patrol officers work a base 2380 hours a year, which includes paid holidays).

The applicant should submit a application/resume, an F-3 Alaska Police Standards Form, (including two sets of fingerprints, a copy of a birth certificate and a copy of two pieces of ID, one with a picture. Additional Requirement:

The applicant must be at least 21-years old, have a high school diploma or GED, possess or be capable of obtaining an Alaska Driver’s License and pass an extensive background investigation, to include truth verification tests, psychological exam and upon offer of employment, a medical exam. Further, the applicant must be able to meet the minimal standards for police officer as set out in 13AAC85.010.
